#176: S022 Pacifica From 19 Apr 1942 to 1 Nov 1942

Happy Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) to all.

Also Happy Shivarathri to all Shiva devotees.

Surprised to see updates on this blog? I am too.

A very good friend of mine passed me some strips and wanted to share with you all. This one especially is very hard to come across.

It is a 1942 Sunday strip which is complete and in COLOR!!! Rarely one comes across such a Mandrake The Magician strip.

Thanks a lot Venkit for getting me these stories and for all the efforts taken to clean the scans.
A ton of thanks to Paulo Marques for sharing this strip. I hope to see you visit the blog someday.

Download the strip here.

Welcome back, Balajee. Hope this time it is really for real.

Thanks are owed to Paulo Marques, who was kind enough to share this very rare Sunday strip with us. I had an earlier French version from Magnus Magnusson, with me, which I have now replaced. I only did a bit of cropping and minimum editing, while renaming the individual filenames to my naming standard. The colored strip looks absolutely fantastic.

For those of you who would like to have his original file here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?lgekttb0x4nbhb3

Enjoy.

Thanks a lot again, Venkit
Good timing I guess well I think there is other blogs providing content on a consistent basis, I felt it was duplication of effort to keep posting, but when I saw this story in color it motivated me.

Ajay, thanks how are you doing?

Thanks for posting this rare colored strip,Balaji!Keep posting once ina while! :))
This was the last adventure of "The Flame Pearls" series but haven't labeled under "part 9",as might be due to the fact that, allthough their voyage wan't over yet, flame pearl's mystery was already solved!

Hi Sagnik,
How are you? You are welcome...

You are right, should have been referred as part 9. This is an awesome story. Where do you see women fighting in those times.

Hello Bala, life is ok now.Guess nowadays we don't blog much due to various reasons(personal/professional),plus,the early years like 2007/8/9 were different!ain't?? :))
Still try to post something in between, not necessarily the comics, but what u can! :)

Very True...Those years were really different. Wish I had a time machine to go back and forth in time...
Mentioning of Time Have you seen the movie IN TIME? It appears to be almost taken from the Lee Falk's short story Time is Money.

Well I've been around your blog for 2 or 3 years now. In fact it was your blog that got me collecting Mandrake strips. The original scan is one I made from the King Comics US comics. At that time Magic Comics published the Dailies and King Comics the Sundays. I was lucky enough to profit from a sale where all the issues of Pacifica were being sold from the same vendor...

I also have Italian versions from Cloud City and Gloria Golden if anyone's interested. Also some Diamond English scans with 90's dailies like D209, D210, etc.

And also a question. I need The Dolphins from the Kraken (S162) I believe to finish up the Kraken arc. I herad there is an Italian version of this strip somewhere. If anyone of you has it could you point me to it?

Many thanks,

Paulo

Thanks Balajee for the post. Also thanks to the people behind the scenes - Venkit (you are like Rahul Dravid; consistent and supporting of the entire Indian comic blogging community) and also to Paulo Marques for sharing the strip.
